Hosta
A perennial root plant of the Hosta genus in the Liliaceae family. It can be used as ground cover under trees, or planted in rock gardens or on the north side of buildings. It can also be planted at forest edges, beside rocks, and near water. It has high ornamental value and is commonly used for ground cover environmental landscaping and decoration.
Growth Habit
It is a typical shade-loving plant that prefers a cool and moist environment. Under strong light, its leaves will turn yellow and growth will be poor. It prefers fertile, moist sandy loam soil and is extremely cold-tolerant. In most regions, it can overwinter in the open field. The above-ground parts wither after frost, and new shoots sprout from the dormant buds in the following spring. It avoids strong direct sunlight.
